Announces Promotion Festivities for the

CLASS OF 2017

 

Information for the Richardson Middle School Promotion Week Activities
 Students are to arrive at South High School Football Stadium by 3:20PM on Thursday (6/22/17) – Promotion Ceremony will begin at 4PM.
 Promotion Dance is from 7PM-10PM at Toyota Meeting Hall (next to Armstrong Theatre).
 Additional details for above events available on the attached Promotion and Dance Information Sheet.
 The Hawaiian 8th Grade Picnic will take place on the Field at Richardson from 12 until 2PM on Tuesday (6/20/17). 8th graders will be dismissed after Picnic at 2PM.
 Pre-purchased Yearbooks will be made available to 8th graders on Tuesday during 4th Period, prior to the beginning of the Picnic. A small quantity of yearbooks are still available for purchase. Please check eblast and daily bulletin for details.
 Promotion Rehearsal #1 will take place on the Field at Richardson on Wednesday (6/21/17) at 10:20AM. 8th graders should plan to arrive by Snack at 10AM in order to avoid being late. Supervision will be available in the Cafe prior to 10AM if needed.
 Promotion Rehearsal #2 will take place at the South High School Football Stadium on Thursday (6/22/17) at 8AM. Students should report directly to South on that morning. South High will still be in session, so please plan drop-offs accordingly. Students will be dismissed after rehearsal is completed at 10AM.
 Both Promotion Rehearsals are mandatory. Students who will be completing Finals at South are excused from any portions of Rehearsals in conflict with Finals. South High 8th graders who will miss both Rehearsals due to Finals are encouraged to consult classmates or staff for information about procedures at the Promotion event. All students can also consult the attached Richardson Middle School Promotion Map with Instructions.
 8th Grade Awards are at 1PM on Wednesday (6/21/17) on the Field at RMS (not the Cafe). Due to limited seating, we ask that the only parents attending this event are those who have been notified of your child receiving an award. Students will be dismissed after the Awards at 2PM.

 

Information for the Richardson Middle School Promotion Ceremony & Dance
 Students are to arrive at South High School Football Stadium by 3:20PM.
 Students will be given a card with their name on it, which they are to keep and hand to the teacher announcing their name during the promotion ceremony.
 Please make sure students are dressed and ready to go upon arrival at South.
 The Richardson Middle School Promotion ceremony will take place at the South High School Football Stadium, NOT at Richardson Middle School, at 4PM.
 Students should not to have any phones or electronic devices with them or carry anything else in their hands besides the cards with their name on it.
 Students should not to wear hats or any candy/flower leis during the promotion ceremony (purchased fundraiser leis can be made available after the ceremony).
 Students are not allowed to wear pointed or spiky heels during this event; the surface of the track that they are walking on will be damaged by such type of shoes. Flats are recommended. If your child is going to wear a wedge or some other type of shoe that they may not wear on a normal basis, please have them practice walking in them to prevent a trip or fall during the ceremony.

 Parking can be a challenge at these events even though we have the early promotion slot this year. Some parents have found that parking on Calle Mayor is sometimes easier and then walking to the promotion event. There is no access to the event from Calle Mayor Middle School.
 Promotion Dance “Under the Sea” is from 7PM-10PM. Students are not permitted in/out privileges at the Dance and will not be allowed to bring in any fluid containers. The Dance is located at Toyota Meeting Hall (next to Armstrong Theatre) and is from 7-10PM. Only current Richardson Middle School Students in the 8th grade are allowed at this event. Please make note that the dance ends at 10PM in order to be sure to pick up your child immediately following the end of the dance.
 Students will not be released to anyone else other than their parent (or sibling with parent permission) and you will need to come inside to get them.
 Students do not need any money for this event -- food, drinks and snacks are all provided.
