Schedule Adjustments

Richardson Middle School will be evaluating class sizes and making adjustments to schedules as needed over the next couple of weeks in order to maximize the school-wide learning environment. During this time some students may have their schedule adjusted. We will make every effort to minimize the overall impact on any student's schedule that we need to adjust.

Additionally, we are currently evaluating all Schedule Change Requests that have been turned in. We have limited (if any) space to accommodate these requests. In many cases, one student must move to a less full class in order to free up space in a full class. Students wishing to switch electives into one of the classes in our music program will have the greatest likelihood of an elective switch. Unless there are unique circumstances, we generally do not consider requests to switch teachers within the same subject.

We ask for your patience and understanding during this period of time.

Dress Code

It is often difficult to let go of Summer Vacation once the School Year starts. However, please remember that summer vacation attire is not always appropriate school attire. We have had a large number of dress code infractions in the first two days of school this year.
Per RMS Dress Code:

  • Clothes shall conceal undergarments at all times.
  • See-through, halter tops, spaghetti strap, off-the-shoulder or low-cut tops are not acceptable.
  • Bare midriffs, sheer or fishnet fabrics are not permitted.
  • Shorts/skirts should not reveal undergarments and be an appropriate length for school.

‚ÄčLunch Areas

In order to minimize litter on campus and maximize student supervision, we will be holding to very strict boundaries at lunch. Lunch Eating Areas are limited to the inside of the Cafe as well as the tables in the front and back of it. Additional eating areas include the Quad area in between Wing E and Wing F as well as the concrete area in front of room 17. Once students have finished eating, they are expected to move to the Quad area in front of the Library (or inside), the Blacktop courts area, and the Field. Students are not allowed in the Halls outside of classrooms during Lunch. Students are welcome to spend lunch in classrooms with the invite and supervision of teachers.
