School Attendance Policies & Procedures
RMS ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
ABSENCES
Regular attendance is critical to academic success. Responsibility for attending class lies with the student.
READMIT PROCEDURES
Students absent from class are required to bring a doctor’s note to the attendance office stating the date(s) of the absence in order for the absence to be counted as excused. If the student has no doctor’s note, they must bring a note to the attendance office from a parent stating the date(s) of the absence and the reason(s) for the absence upon their return to school.
TARDY
All students arriving more than 10 minutes late to school during first period must report to the office for a tardy slip. Tardies may be excused for illness and medical appointments only. If a student arrives to school 20 minutes into any period, excused or unexcused, they will not be allowed to return to class. Students will be considered absent for that period, will remain in the office, and will return to class the following period.
During the school day students are considered “on-time” when they are in their seats “ready-to-work” when the tardy bell rings.
